William Shakespeare (baptised 26 April 1564; died 23 April 1616)was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon".His surviving works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwrigher. We know very little about Shakespeare's life during two major spans of time, commonly referred to as the "lost years": 1578-82 and 1585-92. The first period covers the time after Shakespeare left grammar school, until his marriage to Anne Hathaway in November of 1582. The second period covers the seven years of Shakespeare's life in which he must have been perfecting his dramatic skills and collecting sources for the plots of his plays.

Facts on Shakespeare:

-Nobody knows Shakespeare’s true birthday. The closest we can come is the date of his baptism on April the 26th, 1564. By tradition and guesswork, William is assumed to have been born three days earlier on April the 23rd, a date now commonly used to celebrate the famous Bard's birthday.

-Shakespeare invented the word "assassination".

-William married a woman nearly twice his age. Anne Hathaway was 26 years old when William married her at age 18. They married at Temple Grafton, a village approximately five miles (8 km) from Stratford. Anne Hathaway was said to be from Shottery.

This is a bit of my English short story. enjoy!

I hear the loud ringing of my alarm clock. I wake up startled and confused. My head feels as though is weighs 100 tonnes. I slowly get up and look at my alarm clock. It’s 10:32 am. School started more than two hours ago! I walk up to the mirror and see a repugnant creature staring back at me. It was me. My eyes are red as candy-apples and my hair is a bird’s nest. I stand there for a second looking at myself. I know that I can’t do anything about the way I look right now, so I swiftly slid into a pair of my favourite denim jeans and put on my red chequered flannie. I ran downstairs and saw that the TV was turned on. There was a search going on for some paedophile murderer. I payed no attention and Popped a mint into my mouth, grabbed my backpack and literally sprinted out the door. It was a tedious cold, wet day. The sky was grey and the wind splintered against my face as I ran. As I approached the gates of the school I heard the melodious sound of our school choir singing ‘La traviata’. I silently walked into the hallway, nearly out of breath. It was exceedingly quiet. “Adriana!” I tuned around and saw the school janitor running up to me with a soda in his right hand. How does he know my name? I thought to myself. “Yes?” I said, raising one eyebrow. “I was just emptying out the vending machine and I thought that you might like a soda.” I just stood there for a while, not used to strangers being kind to me. But eventually I gave in and took the soda. “Thanks…” I said suspiciously and walked towards the opposite direction just to get away from the janitor, even though my classroom was the other way. Once I was out of sight, I opened the soda can and gulped down half of the drink. My throat was burning from all that running, and this was the only way I could quench my thirst. I took the can away from my lips to take a breath when I suddenly felt lightheaded and tipsy. The soda tasted perfectly fine, so I had no idea what the problem was all about. After wobbling around on my legs a bit I collapsed onto the ground and watched everything go dark.
